Rocca delle Macìe

Rocca delle Macìe

Details

When people hear the name Italo Zingarelli, many immediately think of successful Spaghetti Westerns starring the iconic duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill – but not necessarily of the Roman founder of a Tuscan winery. Yet it was precisely this Italo Zingarelli, who was once an amateur boxer, who ended his career as a successful film producer, screenwriter, and director in 1973 to fulfil his lifelong dream by purchasing “Le Macìe” in Castellina in Chianti. In 1985, his youngest son Sergio Zingarelli took over the family business together with his wife Daniela. Today, their children Andrea and Giulia are also actively involved in running the estate. The property now extends over 600 hectares, with more than 200 hectares under vine and around 80 hectares of olive groves. The holdings include six estates: Le Macìe, Sant’Alfonso, Fizzano and Le Tavolelle in the Chianti Classico area, and Campomaccione and Casamaria in the Morellino di Scansano zone.
