Turbiana – also known as Trebbiano di Lugana or Trebbiano di Soave – is not related to classic Trebbiano (Ugni Blanc), but is genetically identical to Verdicchio. Originally from Veneto, it forms the basis of the famous Lugana produced south of Lake Garda, which must contain at least 90% Turbiana. This late-ripening, high-yielding and relatively frost-hardy variety produces wines with lively acidity and aromas of citrus fruit, apple, white flowers, herbs, almonds and spices. Thanks to its strong terroir expression, the wines show individual mineral nuances depending on soil and origin.
