This magnificent and traditional winery belongs to the E. di Mirafiore Foundation, owned by Oscar Farinetti, founder of the Slow Food-sponsored food chain Eataly, and Luca Baffigo Filangieri. Both acquired Fontanafredda from the Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank in 2008. Since 2010, the company has been called Casa E. di Mirafiore Fontanafredda. The winery is managed by Giovanni Minetti. Fontanafredda owes its success as a winery and its rise to become one of the most respected producers in the Langhe to Emanuele Guerrieri Conte di Mirafiore, who managed the business from 1878 onwards. As a model business in the Italian wine industry, Fontanafredda focuses on natural viticulture, biodiversity and energy conservation. Without weed killers, chemical fertilisers and excessive sulphites, the wide range of wines from this romantic and deeply inspiring winery is always authentic and of high quality. Incidentally, Fontanafredda also frowns upon fleeting trends and unnecessary packaging.
