Cantina H. Lun

Lun used to be one of the best-known names in South Tyrolean wine. It is the oldest private winery in the region, founded in 1840 by Alois Lun. The Sandbichler Pinot Noir was one of South Tyrol's first high-quality wines. He relied on rigorous selection, marketing only the very best. And the very best was used to make the red and white "Sandbichler". But then things went quiet around the traditional winery. Until a few years ago, when it was taken over by the Girlan winery and continued as its own brand, "Weinkellerei H. Lun", under the direction of a very young team. What remains are the high standards of the founder. What also remains is the Sandbichler. The red and white Sandbichler are two select wines that have personality, good structure and are rich wines with diverse, exciting aromas. The grapes for the traditional Lun winery come mainly from the vineyards around Neumarkt and Montan. The sites between Neumarkt and Montan are among the best for Pinot Noir in South Tyrol. The red Sandbichler is made from the best Pinot Noir that Lun has to offer.
