Vigna Castel Ringberg Lagrein Riserva
- Falstaff Bewertung: 92
Castel Ringberg is Elena Walch’s most important vineyard. Situated high over Lake Caldaro, in the heart of the Alto Adige winegrowing region, the climate, at approximately 300 m above sea level is exceptionally mild. The limestone soils are rather poor but this actually stimulates the vine!
The castle itself was built by the Austrian monarchical dynasty of the Habsburgs as a hunting lodge in 1620 in the Italian renaissance style and is today host to a leading restaurant. Three reserve wines are cultivated in the vineyard surrounding Castel Ringberg: the barrel aged Chardonnay, following the international style, along with the local Lagrein variety and the Cabernet Sauvignon. All three reserve wines are aged in small wooden barrels over a long period of time and are all included in a long list of national and international awards.
